LAKE CITY, Fla. – Florida Gateway College Athletics is proud to announce that eight FGC student-athletes have been named to the 2023-2024 NJCAA All-Academic Teams.
Each year, the NJCAA recognizes athletes who exhibit outstanding performances not only on the field but in the classroom. NJCAA All-Academic Teams are categorized into three tiers based on GPA with the highest achieving student-athletes who maintain a perfect 4.0 GPA being named First Team All-Academic.
“For any athlete to be successful in the classroom, while being so committed to their sport,” said Chris Hackett, FGC Athletic Director, “they must be dedicated, hard-working, and willing to sacrifice. That is the true definition of a student-athlete. We are so proud of all of our athletes that were named to the All-Academic teams.”
First Team: 4.00 GPA
- Esrael Yant Freshman Men’s Basketball
Second Team: 3.80-3.99 GPA
- Brooklyn Kennedy Sophomore Women’s Softball
- Roxxi Ottum Freshman Women’s Cross Country
Third Team: 3.60-3.79 GPA
- Peyton Dube Freshman Men’s Cross Country
- Kaden Reed Freshman Men’s Cross Country
- Karis Smith Sophomore Women’s Softball
- Georgia Turner Freshman Women’s Softball
- Amanda Whalen Freshman Women’s Softball
In addition, 27 FGC student-athletes who maintained a GPA of 3.30-3.59 were named to the 2023-2024 Academic All-Region Team.
These honors cap off another incredible season of FGC Timberwolf Athletics which saw athletes across a broad range of sports competing at the national level, including a second consecutive National Championship Title for Women’s Flag Football. FGC Timberwolves continue to make their college and community proud by representing FGC’s dedication to the highest standards of performance both on and off the field.
